Before and after keypad installation in South Euclid OH
Last week we got a call from a homeowner over in South Euclid, not too far from Notre Dame College. They had an older Schlage deadbolt on their front door and wanted to upgrade to something more secure and convenient.
The customer mentioned they were tired of dealing with keys, especially during those cold Cleveland winters. We’ve all been there – standing outside while the wind coming down from Lake Erie, trying to find the right key in the dark.
What We Installed
We replaced the old traditional deadbolt with a Lockly keypad smart lock. This particular model has a really cool feature – the numbers on the keypad scramble every time you use it. So even if someone watches you punch in your code, they can’t figure out your combination based on finger position.
The installed took about about an hour. We made sure everything lined up properly with the existing door hardware and tested the lock multiple times before we left.
Quick Tips for Keypad Locks
If your thinking about getting a smart lock, here are some things to keep in mind. First, check your door thickness – most keypads work with standard doors but older homes sometimes have thicker doors that need adapters, which isn’t an issue but its important to mention to the locksmith. Second, always keep a backup key somewhere safe. Batteries die and technology can fail. Third, change your code every few months, especially if you’ve given it out to house cleaners or dog walkers for example.
